Reforestation at Circle Creek Habitat Reserve

Stewardship Team Hosts Planting Activities at Circle Creek

Throughout 2024, NCLC incorporated numerous tree plantings at Circle Creek Habitat Reserve into its stewardship activities, which take place at reserves along the Oregon Coast, from Siletz Bay to the Columbia River.

Not only do these activities help to enhance the habitat at Circle Creek, but they also serve as an easy and accessible way for members of the surrounding coastal communities to connect with conservation in their area. For example, NCLC hosted a group of students, teachers, and parent volunteers from Fire Mountain School in March 2024. Nearly a dozen young children scattered about to plant Sitka spruce trees and salmonberry shrubs. This provided a glimpse of how the organization can increasingly utilize Circle Creek to provide outreach and educational opportunities to local schools and students.

Additionally, NCLC held a couple of volunteer work parties to plant cedar trees, one in February and another in December around the Winter Solstice. The intention is to make the wintertime Cedar Planting and Cocoa event at Circle Creek an annual occurrence to celebrate the solstice.
